The wait for the lucky draw for Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) flagship ‘Housing Scheme 2014’ is over and the DDA lucky draw is being held today i.e 25th November 2014 for the allotment of flats. The results for this huge lucky draw is awaited by over 10 lakh applicants who applied for houses under this scheme. The process started at 11.30 am and completed in less than two hours. The randomisation of data starts at 9 am and less than two hours is required to complete. The final lucky draw for the DDA flats begins at 11.30 am and will go for about an hour and 45 minutes. "Work has begun on a digital real-time mapping through satellites. While we will be able to locate existing encroachments, this will help us prevent new encroachments," the new vice-chairman of DDA, Balwinder Kumar said today. The DDA also said that out of about 79,000 acres of land under its jurisdiction, about 1,500 acres have been encroached upon, and the new technology will help it in protecting land. "With the technology... the detailed mapping with location, DDA particulars, legal status will be accessible to the control room," Kumar said. "We don't even know exactly how much of our land is encroached upon. This will help us track new encroachments before they go out of hand," he said.
