How to File ITR Online 2023 24

Step 2: Check your tax deducted at source (TDS) certificates and Form 26AS to verify the amount of tax already paid or deducted by your employer or other deductors. You can also claim credit for any advance tax or self-assessment tax paid by you.
Step 3: Choose the right ITR form based on your sources of income and eligibility criteria. For example, ITR-1 (SAHAJ) is applicable for individuals having income up to ₹ 50 lakh from salary, one house property, other sources and agricultural income up to ₹ 5,000. ITR-4 (SUGAM) is applicable for individuals and firms having income up to ₹ 50 lakh from presumptive business or profession and other sources. Step 4: Download the offline utility software (JSON) from the income tax portal and fill in your details in the downloaded file. You can also use the online mode to fill and submit your ITR directly on the portal if you are eligible for ITR-1 or ITR-4.
Step 5: Validate the information entered and convert the file to XML format. You can also preview your ITR before submitting it.
Step 6: Upload the XML file on the income tax portal using your login credentials. You will also need to verify your ITR using Aadhaar OTP, net banking, EVC or digital signature.
