The HoF based online address update in Aadhaar can be done by submitting Proof of Relationship document like Ration Card, Marksheet, Marriage Certificate, Passport etc. which mentions the name of both the applicant and HOF and the relationship between them and OTP based authentication by the HOF. UIDAI also provides the resident to submit a self-declaration by the HOF in the UIDAI prescribed format at the time when there is no Proof of Relationship document available.
This facility will be a boon to lakhs of people who move various cities and towns due to number of concerns, needs and reasons within the country. You can update address in Aadhaar using any valid Proof of Address document prescribed by UIDAI and this facility is provided additionally by UIDAI. Any resident above 18 years of age can become an HOF for this purpose and can share his/her address with his/her relatives through this process.

How to Change or Update Address on Aadhaar card?
- Visit the official website of the UIDAI- https://uidai.gov.in/.
- Click on the 'My Aadhaar' option given on the homepage.
- Now, under the 'Update Your Aadhaar' section, click on the 'Update Address in Your Aadhaar'.
- Login page opens. Enter your Aadhaar card number, and verify it by entering the Captcha. Here you have entered the Aadhaar number of the HOF, which will only be validated and no other information of the HOF’s Aadhaar will be displayed on the screen to maintain adequate privacy of HOF.
- An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to login into the UIDAI portal
- After logging in the UIDAI website, UIDAI website Aadhaar Card Address Change Dashboard screen appears. Click on the 'Update Aadhaar Online' option.
- Now select 'Address' from the option shown under 'Aadhaar data filed(s) to update'.
- Click on Proceed to Update Aadhaar.
Note: You will need to upload proof of a new address which you wish to update in your Aadhaar Click on 'Proceed to update Aadhaar'. Post successful validation of Aadhaar number of HOF, the resident will be required to upload the Proof of Relationship document.
- Preview your changes. Ensure that all the details you are entering are correct in English as well as in your local language. After you thoroughly check all the details, submit your request.
- Submitting will take you to the payment portal. You need to pay Rs 50 fee for updating of address which can be paid by UPI, net banking, debit/credit cards or netbanking.
- After the payment is successful, you will get service request number (SRN) and an SMS would be sent to the HOF about the address request.
- URN number can be used to track the status of the online address update. Also, download and print the acknowledgment copy of your payment.
- Updated Aadhaar card will be delivered at the new address within 90 days.
You can update your Address online in the Self-Service Update Portal (SSUP). For other updates on the Aadhaar card like Demographic details (Name, Address, DoB, Gender, Mobile Number, Email) as well as Biometrics (Finger Prints, Iris & Photograph) you need to visit Permanent Enrolment Center for biometric verification.
NOTE - If the HOF rejects to share her/his address, or does not accept or decline within the stipulated 30 days of SRN creation, the request would be closed. The resident, seeking address update through this option, will be informed about the closure of the request via an SMS. In case the request is closed or rejected due to non acceptance of the HOF or rejected during process, the amount shall not be refunded to the applicant.
