How to apply for a passport at your nearby post office or Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs)?
Citizens who wish to apply for a passport can do so at the Common Service Centre (CSC) of their nearest post office.
The Ministry of External Affairs has eased the passport issue process for all the citizens of the country. As per India Post, a total of 424 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) have been set up across India to offer passport registration and passport applications. This is so easy for the citizens as they can now register or apply for a passport at a nearby post office.
A Passport is not only an important travel document but also serves as an identity document issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India to the citizens for permitting the passport holder to travel abroad.
India Post make this announcement on their Twitter handle which says, "Now it’s easy to register and apply for a passport at your nearest post office CSC counter. To find out more, visit the nearest post office."

It has been made mandatory for all applicants to be physically present at the Passport Seva Kendra (PSK) along with the application print receipt and original documents after applying online as per the new system.
An applicant must keep all the important documents ready before visiting the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra. These are some important documents that are needed while applying for a passport in India:
List of important documents required for passport application:
Identity proof like an Aadhaar card, Election voter ID card, or any valid photo ID card.
Proof of age, birth certificate, school leaving certificate, etc.
Driving license, PAN card, Aadhaar card.
Proof of address such as electricity bill, water bill, gas connection, mobile bill.
Photo passbook for running a bank account.
Rent agreement (if applicable)

Steps to apply for a passport at nearby post office passport seva kendra (POPSK):
- Visit the official website of Passport Seva i.e., passportindia.gov.in.
- Fill in and submit the passport application form online.
- Complete your online passport application process by scheduling an appointment to visit the nearest Passport Seva Kendra.
- After submission, visit the nearby post office which has Passport Seva Kendra along with your application print receipt and original documents.
- After successful verification by the passport officials, your passport will be issued within 7 to 14 working days.
Please note that it is a must to visit Passport Seva Kendra or Post Office Passport Seva Kendra to submit your passport application.
