How to Donate Money to PM CARES Fund

In order to fight any kind of emergency or distress situation, like posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide relief to the affected, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the setting up of Prime Minister Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES).

The Prime Minister is the Chairman of this trust and its members include Defence Minister, Home Minister and Finance Minister. Citizens and organisations can donate to PM CARES Fund by following the below steps:

  • Visit the official PM Cares website - https://www.pmcares.gov.in/en/
  • Under How To Donate, click on the respective link between domestic and foreign donations.

  • If you reside in India, click the first one, "Domestic Donations".
  • If you don't reside in India and would like to donate to PM Cares fund, click on the second or third one. Second image link is meant for foreign donations through debit/credit cards and the third image link is meant for foreign donations through Wire Transfer/SWIFT.

Suppose you clicked the first one, "Domestic Donations", a form opens where you need to enter these details:

Please read the Terms of Donation as follows:
  1. Contributions flowing out of budgetary sources of Government Organizations and the Public Sector Undertakings are not accepted under PM CARES Fund.
  2. Formal contribution receipts can be downloaded from the PM CARES Portal after successful transaction.
  3. PM CARES Fund provides assistance and relief in India. Hence, contributions wherein the donor intends donations for the foreign citizens/calamities abroad are not accepted in the Fund.
  4. Contributions once processed cannot be cancelled or refunded.
  • Click on the link, "I have read and agree to the Terms of Donation/Contribution".
  • Click on Review and Generate OTP.

Note: In case of any error during bank transaction, please wait for 72 hours before initiating a new transaction.

PM Cares Fund Domestic Donation Modes:

Contributions can be made by following modes:-
  • Net Banking (SBI and other commercial Banks)
  • Card Payments – SBI ATM-cum-Debit Card, Other Bank Debit Cards, Credit Card, Prepaid Card, Foreign Card
  • Other Payment mode: SBI Branch, NEFT/RTGS
  • Contributions can also be made online through the dedicated portal – pmcares.gov.in as well as the portal of PMO i.e. pmindia.gov.in. One can also contribute through the portals of the collection banks.
  • Further, cheque or demand draft drawn in favour of ‘PM CARES Fund’ can be sent to Under Secretary (Funds), PMO, South Block, New Delhi, Pin -110011 along with Name, Address, Mobile No. and E-mail ID of the donor.
All contributions towards the PM CARES Fund are 100% exempt from Income Tax under Section 80(G) of the Income Tax Act, 1961 for those who opt for the old tax slabs.

How to download PM CARES Fund Receipt?

The donor to PM Cares Fund can download formal donation receipt by visiting ‘Print Receipt’ Section of the PM CARES portal after successfully completing the transaction. The process flow and timeline of generation of receipts through various modes of transaction is given as below:-

'Print Receipt' Section → Select the Channel used for donation → Enter Mobile No. and Bank Reference Number → Enter the OTP received on Mobile number → Download Receipt

UPI mode (i.e. BHIM/PhonePe/MobiKwik/Google Pay/Amazon Pay/PayTM)Receipt can be downloaded by selecting the channel “PMCARES@SBI – UPI” in the ‘Print Receipt’ page (This might take upto 7 days).
SBI T    ransactions (i.e. SBI Collect/SBI Yono/ Internet Banking)Receipt can be generated by selecting the channel “SBI Internet Banking Transactions” in the ‘Print Receipt’ page (This might take upto 7 days).
Transaction made directly in any of the collection bank account (except SBI) of PM CARESReceipt can be generated by selecting the channel/Bank used for making donation in the ‘Print Receipt’ page (This might take upto 7 days).
NEFT/RTGS/IMPS/Cheque/Demand Draft/CashReceipts can be obtained only by updating the requisite fields in the ‘Print Receipt’ page. (This might take upto 7 days).
