How to open NPS Tier 2 Account online, NPS Tier 2 Activation Steps

National Pension System (NPS) Tier II account is a voluntary investment account which provides a way for building savings through investments. A subscriber to NPS Tier II Account has been given the power for unlimited online withdrawals and whenever needed, can get the amount credited in his/her bank account. NPS Tier 2 Contribution does not provide tax deduction benefits to a non-government employee. But a government employee is entitled for deduction under Section 80C for contribution to NPS Tier II Account provided there is a lock-in period of three years. Anybody can't open a NPS Tier 2 Account, only subscribers who have a NPS Tier 1 Account can open a NPS Tier 2 Account. We have given below the steps for How to Open NPS Tier 2 Account:

Steps for NPS Tier 2 Account activation online:

Visit the official website of eNPS website (https://enps.nsdl.com) and click on National Pension System.
A small popup opens up.


Click on 'Tier II Activation'.
For NPS Tier 2 account activation, you need to provide details like Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN), Date of Birth and Permanent Account Number (PAN) in order to login, verify PRAN and receive OTP.

Click on 'Verify PRAN' to receive one time password on your registered mobile number.
Write the OTP received on your mobile in the space provided and click continue.
Fill up your bank details and click on 'Validate Aadhaar'.
An acknowledgement number will be generated. Click on OK.
Now choose a pension fund manager (PFM) and investment option -Auto or Active choice.
Click on 'Save and proceed'.
Enter your nominee details and click on 'Save and proceed'.
Now you need to upload two documents- your scanned PAN card and a cancelled cheque.
After the documents are attached, click on 'Upload'.
Now you can make payment or do contribution towards the NPS Tier 2 Account. You can open a Tier 2 account with a minimum investment of Rs.1,000.
After payment is made, you will get your receipt for contribution to NPS Tier II Acount.
Esign the application using your Aadhaar number. Once you provide your Aadhaar number, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Submit the OTP.
After esign on your application, you can download your application, put your signature on the downloaded form and send it to the head office of NSDL in Mumbai through registered post.
That's it. NPS Tier 2 activation procedure is completed.
