BookMyTrain: IRCTC Book Now, Pay Later for Tatkal Tickets, Pay on Delivery


People travelling through Indian Railways can now pay later for tickets booked under the tatkal quota on the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corp (IRCTC) website. This service was only available for general reservations uptill now. For booking tatkal tickets online, customers had to pay first via the online payment gateways and then the IRCTC portal - irctc.co.in confirmed their ticket.

IRCTC payment provider Anduril Technologies said, "For tatkal railway tickets, IRCTC users can pay via cash, debit card or credit card by opting to have tickets delivered at their doorstep. IRCTC processes 130,000 tatkal ticket booking transactions daily and no doubt, a majority of tatkal tickets are booked within minutes of the quota opening.

This new feature "Book now pay later irctc" eliminates the transaction failures as the money gets debited and the ticket is not issued due to varying reasons and the refund cycle is from seven to 15 days.

Anurag Bajpai, CEO at Anduril Technologies said, “Book Now Pay Later or Pay on delivery for tatkal tickets is going to be a huge benefit to for millions of train travelers who book train tickets under the tatkal quota. This option is one of its kind - book first, pay later will definitely be adopted greatly by users. After the launch of this new feature, IRCTC aims to encourage people for digital payments, to make those people standing to buy tickets off the Railway Reservation Counters to come online and use this great feature for booking tatkal railway tickets.

How Book Now Pay Later Scheme Works for Booking Tatkal Railway Tickets?


 Any user who wish to avail of this "Book Now Pay Later" scheme and ‘pay on delivery’ option need to first register with irctc payondelivery co in. The user need to provide either Adhaar card or PAN card details at the time of registration.

1. Login with IRCTC User-id, IRCTC Email-id and Mobile No. and Click Validate.



2. After planning your Itinerary, Choose Pay-on-Delivery Payment Option.
3. Select your Delivery Address.
4. Your Ticket booking is confirmed.

The tatkal ticket digital delivery happens instantly via SMS /email and the delivery to your address happens within 24 hours of the booking. The user can also pay online for tatkal tickets through a payment link sent to them at time of booking.
