Pay Bangalore Property Tax and get 5% rebate
BENGALURU: It's time of the year again to pay BBMP property tax 2017-18. To make the Bangalore property tax payment online an easy process, BBMP has made special arrangements to collect tax at the offices of BBMP revenue officers (ROs) or assistant revenue officers (AROs).
BBMP is already in talks with banks to fix officials for tax collection at these offices present in the city and at ward level. This change has been made keeping in mind that several tax payers complained about lack of dedicated counters at banks for property tax payment Bangalore the previous year.
M K Gunashekar, chairman, standing committee on Taxation and Finance, BBMP, said "We have option for online payment of property tax Bangalore but many people still prefer to pay BBMP property tax offline. If bank officials are present at RO and ARO offices with swipe machines and required receipts, it will be of much help to taxpayers to complete the process without much hassles.
Gunashekar said they have already made arrangements with banks. This facility could be extended during peak payment season of April-May for BBMP property tax as a lot of people pay BBMP tax at this appropriate time to avail rebate.
As per BBMP rules, the property tax Bengaluru can be paid as one full instalment or in two instalments. If you happen to pay Bangalore house tax in two instalments, the first one will be interest-free if it is paid within April 30, 2017 and the second one will be interest-free if it is paid before November-end. You can pay before month-end and get 5% rebate.
As most people opt for online payment of Bangalore property tax, you can also use it and save a lot of your time as paying via BBMP offices could be a nightmare.

BBMP has also passed a budget proposal after which a unique digital number would be alloted for houses and roads in the city. Gunashekar said, "New tenders would soon be available to shortlist agencies for this project. Digital coordinates of each property along with PID number would be tracked which would streamline the property listing in the city and BBMP will be able to recover property tax from more properties as these properties would come under the tax bracket".
